Katherine Philips is a seventeenth century feminist. She wrote about why being a single woman is much better than being married. This is because you have no man to answer to and no babies to take care of. This thought was crazy for the time because all women were told to get married She also wrote about murder and death which were topics that women typically did not discuss because women were considered soft and those were manly topics. She also wrote a poem that almost feels as though it justifies lesbian love which was definitely a topic all people avoided during the seventeenth century.
