The Dream of the Rood, The Wanderer, The Wife's Lament

These works gave off a very depressing and melencholy feeling. While reading them I felt lonely. The way they are written almost makes the reader, or at least me, feel like I am the protagonist. I wonder how I would feel if I was in their situation.
